Their Story:

After 7 years of adventures, challenges, laughs & many memories, American couple, Gretchen & Gordon decided to take a leap of faith and have a destination wedding in the heart of the Cape Winelands! Inviting only their closest family & friends the couple envisioned a truly romantic & intimate affair for their celebration!

Our team were entrusted to find the ideal setting to play host for this sophisticated & cosy wedding, which led us to the picture perfect ‘Hawksmoor House’. This venue depicted exactly what the couple were looking for and even resembled the family barn back in their hometown, Birmingham, Alabama.

Elegant & rustic décor details were featured throughout the day and added romantic & thoughtful touches. The striking ceremony arch was hand-made for the occasion & adorned with lush florals in shades of dusty & light pink, with touches of cream and green which perfectly complimented Gretchen’s French vintage wedding dress that her mother had worn 30 years prior, at her own wedding.

Being travellers & foodies at heart, it was very important for the couple that emphasis was placed on a romantic & stylish intimate dinner experience with hearty food & amazing wine! This was creatively executed by our décor team who pulled together the perfect combination of ‘family-style’ dining whilst being surrounded by an abundance of florals & a moody, romantic ambience! Elegant glass canopies were custom designed to ‘sit’ comfortably on top of the lavish floral runners – this allowed for the focus to still lie on the stunning cascading florals whilst the guests still partook in sharing the delicious South African inspired platters amongst themselves.

Simply put, Gretchen and Gordon’s celebration was a true destination experience which brought together friends & family from all around the world – our team’s mission was achieved!
