After an extensive venue search of the beautiful Cape Winelands all eyes were finally set on the picturesque Boschendal Wine Estate – which was to host 120 guests from all over the world and pay tribute to the couple’s multicultural and cosmopolitan Hong Kong Chinese – Belgian love affair.

A gastronomic menu, world-class wine, vibrant African entertainment and creating an inspired wow-factor design concept were the focus for our team during the exciting 10 months of destination wedding planning.

With the couple’s love for lush florals & greenery complete with lighting magic – this wedding was all about suspension and creating a veritable “Garden of Eden” by design.

After the gorgeous outdoor ceremony overlooking the vast Stellenbosch mountain ranges and accompanied by an African Choir – the guests enjoyed haute-farm-cuisine canapés to smooth live Afro-Jazz before being ushered into the transformed reception venue.

Bringing nature inside meant creating a mystical and visually mesmerizing glamorous look.  A botanical art installation, with hundreds of candles, a forest entrance feature and 40 meters of floral & lighting wonderland above the two gloriously long dinner tables.

As guests dined and enjoyed touching speeches all underneath the magical garden canopy, Charlotte – having worked in fashion all her life – dazzled in her couture Zuhair Murad gown. Soon family and friends were requested to join the couple on their custom-made parquet dance floor where they partied to the global dance sounds of DJ Rene and his Dream Team, who ensured that chic dance floor was never empty till the charmed hours of the morning!

Despite JP’s blossoming rugby career having relocated them both to Japan; and with a 7 hour time difference, both Megan and JP were incredibly hands on for the duration of the wedding planning process. Both had a specific vision for their celebration and with this in mind the Wedding Concepts team’s objective was to create a look that would be timeless in design, understatedly elegant and incorporating the “all-white” on-trend colour palate.

What turned out to be a perfectly sunny day in the middle of the Cape winter, the classic ceremony set the tone for the elegant, black–tie celebration ahead! An afternoon alfresco soiree followed where guests were able to indulge in  sumptuous canapés, a handcrafted gin bar, charcuterie, cheese and coffee stations. Adding a fun digital aspect to their celebration and to capture every moment, the couple encouraged the guests to take photos throughout the day and to share them on social media with their personalised hashtag.

As the sun set over the magnificent Helderberg Mountains, the guests were ushered into the stylish reception space and welcomed with a glass of champagne whilst taking in the modern yet edgy décor scheme. Our design teams décor rationale was that the overall look and feel would remain clean, uncomplicated and modern, with white being used as the highlight colour. Striking floral features were suspended from the roof and seemed to perfectly float over each of the beautifully white cladded dinner tables and the classic black and white checkered dancefloor was a classic focal feature. This look was carried through on the dinner tables with a beautiful assortment of white flowers, crystal vases and touches of gold all tied together with contemporary mirror accents.

The in-style predominantly white colour palette worked flawlessly within the reception space and custom-made black and gold stationery elements added an fashionable touch to finish the look off perfectly.

The evening was filled with memorable speeches including some from JP’s fellow rugby players, a delectable three course menu and an impressive late night snack station. A highlight for the evening was definitely the couple’s emotional first dance to John Legend and Sam Smith’s ‘Lay Me Down’ – that eventually that had all their guests join them on the dance floor to share in on the special moment.

A key element from the word ‘go’ was ensuring that every aspect of the wedding portrayed the opulence and personalisation that the bride had envisioned. A unique and inspiring colour palate of soft lilac tones, mixed with shades of pink combined with subtle hints of silver & white was used as the foundation for the décor & design brief.

The ceremony setting was a prominent focus for our team, as the bride wanted this to be designed in such a way that it was a true showstopper for guests to be ‘wowed’ by upon arrival! The focus element for the ceremony was the dramatic 3 meter high gazebo structure adorned with white draping and elegant floral touches – a stunning chandelier was suspended in the centre of the gazebo to tie this look together beautifully!

Personalised stationery details were brought in throughout the day to add that extra touch of luxury. The couple’s customised monogram was expertly applied as an additional feature on key structural elements: a violet coloured vinyl application on the bar and then repeated in gold on the dance floor.

The hotel’s ballroom was beautifully complemented with long guest tables, covered with a combination of crystal vases, floral posies and ornate gold candle holders. This look was perfectly tied together by the addition of massive opulent floral arrangements that were strategically placed down the centre of the tables. Each of the ballroom’s existing chandeliers had additional floral décor suspended from them ensuring the glamour quota was fully achieved! The final showstopper for the evening was the 5 tier wedding cake, which was truly a masterpiece.

This Wedding Concepts designer celebration truly emphasised the very essence of glamour and sheer opulence expected at 5 star hotel such as the Four Seasons, two luxury designer brands perfectly in line with one another – creating a one of a kind wedding experience & setting new trends for the luxury market!
