The making of a designer wedding means that we assist couples through the conceptualisation and design phase to interpret their individual ideas and to make sure that the day reflects their individuality. By carefully combining personalised and sentimental details with specially designed stationery and exciting décor concepts, the detail truly makes a statement! For Monika & Ronan’s recent December wedding in Paarl on an estate dressed with Jacaranda trees in full bloom, the detail came to life in wonderful tints and shades of purple, violet, magenta and plum; mixed amongst delicate pinks and white to soften the look. Silver was brought though as a strong contrast and accent colour with the luxurious addition of silver table cloths, exclusive silver charger plates and Tiffany chairs. The wedding stationery by Lara’s Design’s was a creative mix of modern canvas and Perspex, paired alongside luxurious letter-pressed menus with personalised ribbon, and thoughtful gifts at each place setting of colourful macaroons, also personalised with a thank you note from the couple. The guest book become a working piece of art where guests would “create” leaves on a tree by inking and stamping their fingers and leaving a message.

Low mixed arrangements of hydrangeas, Bombay roses, lisianthus, garden roses, and elegant magenta orchids added incredible pops of colour to the chic table setting. Lighting on the tables comprising of cylindrical glass vases with floating candles, hurricane vases with purple pillar candles and low glass votives ensured a romantic ambience once the sun had set. A fun cluster of white and purple Chinese lanterns suspended above a classic white and black checkered dance floor by Something-Different, created the perfect mood for this South African and Irish group to dance until “the wee hours of the morning”.

Modern Chic meets Old World Glamour: Lindy & Jeremys Real-Life Wedding

Combining the sophistication & traditions of their home countries France and South Africa – Jeremy & Lindy asked us to design a Winelands wedding of elegance & class with some modern twists. There was to be no compromise on the top-quality of the 5* boutique location – a hidden gem in the Wellington Winelands – and the culinary delicacies they would have on offer to their well-travelled guests.

Their casually glamorous pre-wedding beach picnic had already set the tone for a designer wedding that was to follow the next day. Sleek grey tones with rich purple touches and shades of ivory created a contemporary colour palette that complimented the elegant winelands setting.

The debonair Jeremy, decked out in top hat, tails and of course a cane, was met at the alter by the ueber-elegant Lindy, to exchange vows in an outdoor ceremony surrounded by picturesque forest and mountain views of the Bainskloof Valley. At pre-drinks a spirited and highly interactive African drumming circle proved to be the highpoint for the international crowd – whilst award winning chef, Luke Dale Roberts of The Test Kitchen, featured his world-class signature food with culinary highlights such as Kudu tartar, warm crayfish salad and truffled Springbok Loin but to name a few.

The chic wedding reception was arranged under a Bedouin marquee that covered the stylish courtyard and water feature. Table tops were adorned withcontemporary floral installations, stylish stationery elements (yes – each with a personalised wax seal) and an exquisite lighting concepts. A renowned swing band kept guests boogying on the silver striped dance floor; designer cocktails matching the wedding colours were a special feature in their own right and finally – a delectable Candy Station presented alongside a 5 tiered African-themed wedding cake ensured every person’s sweet tooth was spoken for. Unique wedding gifts like “dancing flips flops”, candy boxes for the trip home and personalised Gerald Hoberman coffee table books were given to the guests to ensure that this was one African celebration that they wouldn’t soon forget!
