Fetching in any Colour – Our Best Dressed Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids play an integral part of any wedding. Not only are they there to share in the joy of a significant occasion with a special friend, but also their personal styling is one of the key areas were a bride becomes creative! Brides and bridesmaids are taking the plunge and becoming bolder in fabric and colour choice and are now using luxurious fabrics in varied styles to create a beautiful statement. Our past season of dresses has included striking cocktail dresses, one shoulder or strapless, designer couture outfits and beautiful floor-length evening gowns – all mirroring the brides chosen colour palette or concept. A noticeable trend is to use the bridesmaid’s dresses as a means to showcase the subtle shades and tints of the wedding colour, or to keep their dresses completely separated from decor all together and merely showcase beautiful styles that suit each girl. Whatever the bride decides in the end – we are sharing some of our favourites from the past season that really turned heads!

Blushing Coral & Elegant Grey: Sara & Robs Real Life Wedding

Sara and Rob, a young and down to earth couple from Cape Town fell in love with the Franschhoek winelands and once they had found their perfect venue, there was no going back! Modern yet understated elegance is what Sara is all about and this reflected strongly in the minimalistic yet exceptionally striking décor. Floral arrangements where kept to one kind of flower per vase and only two shades of colours were used: white and coral. This was contrasted beautifully against silver and grey striped tablecloths; contemporary white bikini chairs paired with personalised napkins printed with the menu in a silver font. The brilliant chef Darren Roberts provided the guests with what can only be described as a journey through incredible local flavours characterised by his philosophy of innovation through passion and simplicity. The wedding cake was just as delicious and uncomplicated – a tower of Daniela’s macaroons in grades of coral tones, presented in clear acetate boxes to allow the brilliant colour to be visible and add to the packaging. The groom’s speech, brilliantly delivered entirely as a limerick, had the guests in stitches and Sara’s stylish birdcage fascinator exuded her sense of style and grace. Contemporary yet simple lighting in the form of cylindrical lampshades and individual naked bulbs suspended above the dinner tables was dimmed as the first dance began. Guests enjoyed the rest of the celebration devouring the variety of canapé style desserts that floated around and proceeded to dance to the early hours of morning.

Vivid African Affair: Suzanne & Simon’s Real Life Wedding

Europeans Suzanne and Simon exchanged their vows against a contemporary backdrop of vibrant colours in the Franschhoek valley. With the bulk of the guest list flying to Cape Town from abroad it was extremely significant to the couple to design a celebration with noticeable African elements and an original, contemporary décor. In striking hues of yellow, red and blue Wedding Concepts created their very own African colour palette.

On arrival at the chic Franschhoek Wine Estate guests were greeted by dynamic Djembe African drummers and marimbas. Personalised coloured cocktails kept guests cool in the African heat with waiters lining the pathway to pre-dinner drinks, with homemade raspberry lemonade, berry daiquiris and Mojitos. The African singer Mapumbe entertained, whilst guests snacked on the Malay inspired canapé selection.

To compliment the modern décor it was imperative that the wedding stationery was as progressive and unique. We think it had the true wow factor. An exclusively designed insignia of the African continent was carried throughout the stationery, reminding the guests of the flavours and facets of South Africa.
Before dinner each guest received a personalised name badge that had been pinned to canvas complete with instructions of where to sit at the reception. The menu for the evening was printed onto a black napkin and then personalised again with the guest’s name on a bright yellow band creating a stunning contrast of colour against the crisp white tables and orange and black floral décor. The evening’s weather turned out to be nothing short of an amazing African summer sunset accompanied with warm evening temperatures, so dinner was to be held under a majestic oak tree in the gardens. Large French inspired arm chairs held their own amongst the contemporary and colourful décor. Table centre pieces comprised of charcoaled wood, bright orange lilies and strelitzias. Burnt orange coloured glasses for candles, mirrored light boxes and a mix of white and orange vases added the finishing touches to the stylish table setting.

To get the party really started, the Gallery had been transformed into a dazzling and ultra-modern nightclub with white lounge furniture, scatter cushions, modern chandeliers and creative lighting concepts rounding off the look flawlessly. A cigar lounge was setup outside the gallery for the gents and ladies were treated to personalised white flip-flops with instruction tags to relieve their tired feet. We think: Contemporary, vibrant Africa it its best!

Suzanne raved after the wedding, “I just wanted to say thank you for creating the best week of our lives! It’s been an absolute dream from start to finish.”
