“Ndoni and David's wedding was a spring time celebration which gave a modern twist to the traditional wedding day timing. Our design team were expertly asked to work with the couples’ favourite colours, red and blue and to create a relaxed and stylish celebration – with a sunset ceremony in the middle! ”

When Ndoni and David approached Wedding Concepts to plan their celebration, they had only 2 definite wishes. One was to have a day that would not only be a relaxing one, but also that proceedings would start earlier than usual in order for them to spend more valuable time with their closest friends and family. The second was to incorporate Ndoni’s favourite colour blue, with David’s favourite colour, red – all the while keeping the celebration relaxed, stylish and with a sense of occasion.

Once the picturesque La Petit Dauphine in the Franschhoek Valley was booked, our design team began planning with the couples wishes in mind, to make their perfect day come to life. We decided to swop around the more traditional wedding day timing to encourage a relaxed ambience. Guests were asked to arrive at the venue just after noon for a long, lazy platter style luncheon under the oak trees. Beautiful spring themed tables with striking blue and white striped table cloths greeted guests along with David and Ndoni, who wore an exquisite cobalt blue dress for the occasion. The table florals where a perfect mix of soft spring inspired arrangements and charming additions of wooden engraved stationery added a rustic, country feel. The meal began with farm fresh breads, pates and olives and progressed to larger platters of the most delicious items such as prawn ravioli, crispy pork bellow and fresh spring salads and vegetables.

During the feast the most heartfelt speeches were delivered as well as a beautiful performance by the poetry club that Ndoni belongs to. The well-known Breakfast Included entertained guests in between speeches and lunch with familiar jazz favourites as well as some local jazz classics. Just before the sun began to set, the bride and groom snuck off to get into their formal wedding attire and guests ended off the meal with a refreshing lemon and mint sorbet and for those with an extra sweet tooth, they could nibble on the macaroons given to each guest as a favour.

Our team then guided the guests down to the lake for a very romantic sunset ceremony. Impressive candles installations replaced flowers and a gazebo structure, allowing the sheer magnitude of the surrounding mountains at sunset to stand proud over this special moment. Ndoni, accompanied by her beaming father, walked down the aisle in the most beautiful white wedding dress and so the ceremony began. Whilst this took place our team expertly rearranged the “Blue Themed Lunch” area into a splash of vivid red! Casual lounging concepts replaced the long luncheon tables with bright pops of red and white floral arrangements. The Festival-style red dessert station was where the strikingly colourful wedding cake took centre stage. The ceremony ended and with a glass of cap classique in hand, the guests made their way back up to a completely converted party space. Here, under a red and white canopy of Chinese lanterns, Ndoni and David had their first dance together and family and friends soon joined in. The relaxed yet stylish ambience of the day together with their closest family and friends ensured Ndoni and David’s wedding day was nothing short of magical.
