Holly and Neil, true South African’s at heart but residing in the USA, entrusted Wedding Concepts to convert their dreams for a destination wedding back home into a reality. With many of their family and friends residing in South Africa, it only made sense to have their celebration back on African shores.
It was important for the setting as well as the mood of the wedding to reflect Holly and Neil’s delightful and contagious spirit. With this fun couple having a keen interest in yachts and a palate for fine wine, the perfect setting was found in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, just outside the picturesque town of Hermanus. The ceremony was held at St. Peters Anglican Church in Hermanus, literally a stones throw away from the roaring waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The reception followed at a trendy wine estate equipped with a modern champagne bar and tucked away in the hills of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.
In the development stages of this inspired celebration, Holly and Neil had only three specific wishes: ensure that fun was had by all who attended, Neil’s favourite colour, yellow, had to feature as the central theme, and Holly’s vision of scores of candles, yellow lilies and frangipanis would need to come to life. Fortunately for us, yellow is a colour that shines with optimism, enlightenment and happiness. It invokes fresh energy as well as sparking creative thoughts. From that moment on, it was as if everything came together flawlessly. A striking and original bridal bouquet made of white and yellow Arum lilies for Holly; delicate hand-made sugar frangipani flowers adorning the highest tier of the impressive cup cake pyramid, boules and bubbly to entertain guests during pre-drinks, yellow Chinese lanterns expertly strung up above the dance floor and finally bespoke & contemporary table décor elements of tall cylindrical glass vases and arum lilies suspended stylishly above the tables and finished off with lemons and yellow objects used as accents in place of floral decorations.
Holly & Neil’s wedding was nothing short of a magical and joyous affair that was enjoyed by family and friends who came together to celebrate from every continent. It is said that the colour yellow carries the promise of a positive future; if so, we have no doubt that Holly & Neil have an exceedingly bright future ahead of them.
