“A luxurious destination wedding in the Cape Winelands with a uniquely beautiful inspiration, this Fibonacci themed wedding was one to remember!”
The inspiration for this magical wedding came from an ancient principle: Fibonacci numbers. A golden ratio for a golden couple!
Kensi and Nelson came from Johannesburg for their luxury destination wedding in the graceful Cape winelands last October. For their venue, they chose the magnificent Vrede en Lust estate in Franschhoek, with its exceptional views, beautiful Cape Dutch architecture, and first class service. They allowed us creative freedom with all aspects of the day, entrusting our team with bringing the details of their unique Fibonacci themed wedding to life through chic contemporary touches and outdoor spaces that celebrated the glorious winelands scenery.
For those not familiar with the concept, the Fibonacci sequence is a mathematical principle, a golden ratio that can be used to describe the proportions of everything from nature’s smallest building blocks, atoms, to the most advanced patterns in the universe. It appears in the world’s most beautiful architecture, in plants, in music. It represents balance and unity in all things. A Fibonacci themed wedding was the perfect metaphor for a marriage founded on harmony and love, and for a meaningful celebration based around friendship, laughter, and togetherness.
We brought this idea to life through a modern interpretation of the golden ratio concept, using stylish contemporary design touches. This included geometrical elements, bringing together both square and round shapes. We used a tranquil palette of blue, blush and white to complement the look, as well as the colours of the estate on a sunny late summer day. Additional elements included a designer cake, bespoke stationery, and a magnificent overhead structure with golden atoms and square shapes, dripping with luxurious florals.
The wedding day began with an outdoor ceremony using striking circular seating, to reflect the perfectly proportioned spirals found in nature. After vows were exchanged, guests enjoyed afternoon cocktails on the lawns, relaxing in unique al fresco lounge pockets that had been specially created for them to enjoy the blue skies above. Jazzy entertainment was provided by Odwa Bongo, one of South Africa’s most talented rising vocal stars. As a feature piece, we created a stunning and entirely custom-made blush and gold champagne wall. This not only provided guests with glasses of the bride’s favourite tipple, but doubled as an escort card display, with tags attached to each glass indicating the guest’s table name.
Dinner took place at long tables in Vrede en Lust’s light-filled open-sided veranda, followed by a night of dancing under the stars to the beats of acclaimed DJ Voodoo, who had flown in from Johannesburg especially for the event.
Kensi shared with us after her wedding “Thank you so much for making Nelson’s and I’s dream wedding come true. You were amazing partners and made everything we wanted come true”.
