“we are taking a look back at some of the exquisite creations and trends for bridal bouquets!”
With wedding season on the horizon we are taking a look back at some of the exquisite creations and trends for bridal bouquets.
The bridal bouquet has origins deep in history. The Roman bride and groom would wear garlands around their necks to symbolise long life and fertility. Strong smelling flowers, garlic and herbs would be worn to ward off evil spirits which were thought to be ever present and bad luck. It was only when Queen Victoria married Prince Albert, the herbs and spices had been replaced by fresh flowers, especially marigolds.
Thankfully the bridal bouquet has evolved through the ages and brides pick their flowers not only to enhance the look she wishes to create but also based on their own unique style and taste. A helpful hint to current brides-to-be: to plan the perfect flower selection for your wedding, you will of course need to set the all important date of your celebration first. That way you have a date & time of year to focus on and can then start investigating which wedding flowers are going to be in season and what floral design & style you will be able to create.
To get you inspired – here is a selection of some of our favourite – and refreshingly different – bouquets so far from the past season!
