Leading up to the most glamourous wedding celebration that Victoria Falls has ever seen, and as a pre-wedding get together – our Wedding Concepts team organised a lavish African Bush dinner on the banks of the great Zambezi River. With guests having travelled from all over Southern Africa and the world for Lindsay & Chris’ wedding – it was only fitting to let everyone experience the mighty Zambezi River in style and with all its splendour.  “Zambezi” meaning “Great River” in the local Tonga dialect of Zimbabwe, this majestic and largely unexplored river evokes mystery and excitement with few rivers in the world remaining as pristine and authentically African.

A decadent sunset cruise with light snacks and of course the odd G&T greeted guests as they took in the rivers beauty and were greeted by hippos and elephants having a swim. African Drummers, Fire Poi dancers and a Marimba Band then welcomed the guests as they disembarked in the heart of the National Park. With waiters serving refreshing “Amarula on Ice” the bush dinner started and ended in traditional African fashion.

The menu having being cooked and prepared over open flame in “potjie pots” showcased some of the most fantastic and varied local flavours from Zimbabwe – and everyone agreed that this was an evening to be remembered and hard to beat.

We knew: The sunset bush dinner only paved the way to what would be the most unforgettably glamorous designer wedding the next day.
